Honorable Vice-Chancellor
Mawlana Bhashani Science and Technology University (MBSTU), Tangail, Bangladesh
Professor Dr. ABM Shahidul Islam is a distinguished Bangladeshi academician, researcher, and university administrator currently serving as the Vice-Chancellor of Mawlana Bhashani Science and Technology University (MBSTU), Tangail. Appointed by the Honorable President of the People's Republic of Bangladesh, he assumed office on 16 May 2026 for a four-year term.
With a remarkable academic career spanning over four decades, Professor Islam has made significant contributions to higher education, research, and academic leadership in Bangladesh. Prior to joining MBSTU, he served as a Senior Professor in the Department of Marketing at the University of Dhaka, where he also held the position of Chairman of the Department.
Professor Islam earned his Ph.D. in Business-to-Business (B2B) Relationship Marketing from the University of Dhaka in 2005, and completed his M.Phil. at the University of Strathclyde, United Kingdom, in 2002 as a Commonwealth Scholar. He serves as the Executive Editor of the International Journal of Social Business.

This session explores how students and researchers can build successful interdisciplinary research careers and pursue graduate studies in the United States, highlighting emerging AI career pathways in academia, industry, and research laboratories, along with essential skills, funding opportunities, and strategies for developing a competitive research profile.
Dr. Muhammad Ruhul Amin is an Assistant Professor of Management and Business Strategy at Tennessee State University, Nashville, TN, USA, holding a Ph.D. in Management from Texas A&M International University. His academic journey began in Bangladesh, where he earned a BBA and MBA from the University of Dhaka, before completing an MSc in Management and an MSc in Business Analytics from East Texas A&M University. He has published extensively and presented at the Academy of Management and Decision Sciences Institute conferences, and is deeply engaged in student mentorship and social welfare. His journey from Bangladesh to the U.S. continues to inspire students toward academic and humanitarian excellence.

Abstract: Generative and Agentic Artificial Intelligence are transforming education by enabling personalized learning, intelligent tutoring, automated content creation, and adaptive assessment. These technologies offer new opportunities to enhance student engagement, improve learning outcomes, and support educators. However, their widespread adoption also raises important challenges related to academic integrity, ethical AI use, bias, privacy, and the evolving role of teachers. This session explores the emerging impact of Generative and Agentic AI in education, highlighting both its transformative potential and the critical considerations for responsible integration.
Mohammad Zaman is a technology strategist, AI evangelist, and industry leader with more than 35 years of experience spanning cloud computing, artificial intelligence, digital transformation, and workforce development. He serves as VP of AWS Strategic Alliances & Go-to-Market at Cybage and as Director of Professional Studies at Washington University of Science and Technology. Having held leadership roles across Amazon, Dell, Verizon, and CenturyLink, he advocates for AI-native skills, emerging technologies, and future workforce readiness.

About the Session: This interactive panel discussion brings together distinguished academics, researchers, and international experts to share their experiences and insights on pursuing graduate research and securing international scholarships. The session will explore research opportunities, scholarship application strategies, selecting supervisors, preparing competitive applications, and building a successful academic career. Students will have the opportunity to engage directly with the panelists through a live Q&A session.
Prof. Dr. Ziaur Rahman is a Full Professor at the Department of ICT, MBSTU, with over 12 years of experience in higher education, research, and software development. He earned his PhD in Cybersecurity from RMIT University, Australia, where his doctoral thesis was recognised as outstanding (top 5%). He subsequently served as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow in Cybersecurity at Queensland University of Technology (QUT) and Charles Sturt University (CSU), Australia. His research interests encompass privacy-preserving IoT security, blockchain, edge machine learning, and software security. He is the Founding Chair of the SSI Lab at MBSTU and serves as Secretary of the TPC for IEEE ICEFronT 2026.
